Yes all that can help, though as you and I know, some just never seem to "get it"....but that's on them
A funny story-years ago, on a flight from an NTA back east, I sat next to a mom with a small boy, who did not want to be still and buckled in his seat for take off. The more she tried to settle him, the more he began to ramp up in big noise. I knew as the moments went on he would be singing the coyote song at high C , of his people ....mother was embarrassed and didn't know what to do.
I had bought a lovely cherry red fox and had it folded carefully in my tote bag at my feet. What the heck- it was worth a try , I thought. I didn't have my shotgunning ear plugs so I was right with Mom on wanting quiet....
I unzipped the tote and said to the boy, " wanna see a really pretty fox ?" The bright red fur popped out of the zipper as I slowly unfolded it for him to see. His eyes popped like dinner plates, and he forgot totally about singing high C. He was the cutest little black child , Mom was white, the whole thing was so fun. I stretched the fur out next to him, and showed him the soft black ears, legs, whiskers, white face, big bushy tail.
"You can pet him if you want to!" He slowly reached and fell in love with the fur texture.
Mom was a hoot-at first she looked horrified that I had a real fur that was obviously trapped. She knew that was the only thing that was keeping her from a bad situation on the plane, so she settled and listened. Asking some questions of where I was coming from, I explained, and was able to teach her via "kiddo talk" to her boy. Telling him about nature and where humans get warm clothes from, the early mountain men, etc. And that fur is what all countries have as great history in their trade and growth .
That boy pet that fox all the flight to landing two hours later....mom was happy, though still a little reserved about trapping...but a lot more educated regardless.
A captive audience and happy crew and passengers maintained...
