Fundamentally, the purpose of Bitcoin is developing computer technology for enabling multiple parties to send payments online directly to each other (“peer-to-peer cash system”) without requiring a financial institution such as a bank. First and foremost it goes without saying that the underlying system for such transactions would need to meet a number of security requirements.

Basically The Bitcoin Network is a ultra secure payment processor. Miners are doing the processing of the transactions on the network and they get rewarded with Bitcoin. How miners make money is by using energy that is free or extremely cheap, natural gas wastage is the biggest source .Trump is now friendly to it and a lot of exuberance in the market overall driving the price

Most bitcoin folks talk in terms of the upside rallies and where they peak and settle back. The last rally around '21 was somewhat tempered with shakeups of some bad actors with arrests that made high profile news. Some of what should have been part of that rally is likely in part of this run up.

Secondly Trump is more favorable to the concept but to an extent crypto currency found a voice in the last election. There were a number of govt lawsuits against such players as coinbase over the course of the last administration as the parties tried to work out a legal framework in which this would work. There was some significant campaigning efforts put into highlighting politicians that were not cyrpto friendly and a good pile of them were not re-elected.

And on top of that stuff, a good number of central banking systems around the world have been quietly accumulating bitcoin for awhile now.

If you believe government figures cash has lost 20 to 25 percent of its value in the last 4 years.
