My son came to pick up Ellie Jane today and had a guest with him. They hired a young man from Scotland to do their trapping now. This guy was a pretty cool. We didn’t get to talk long, but I’ll remedy that in the near future. He’s already picking up using footholds as snares “were” the only legal method there. He mainly trapped/shot Reds and Badgers there, coyotes are new for him but he’s already managed several plus Grays and Bobcats. He did say he didn’t realize Grays were that aggressive and that Bobcats want to kill you, lol. We’re going to get together when we have a break between their quail hunts and ours and do some serious talking.
What’s sad is he’s working on getting a permanent Visa and possible citizenship but it’s a long lengthy process. I told him just have the owner fly him to Mexico and come across the border and get a free pass and money too, lol. I’ll keep y’all posted when we get together for a longer conversation and a thermal hunt or two.
He did say they used dogs a lot for badgers and foxes and showed me some pics of how that worked. Again, pretty cool convo for as short as it was.
