k9 on the forums, uses a roller style as well.

The way his is set up, is that he uses a piece of rebar to hold his roller.

There's enough tension on the pelt itself, it doesn't unravel. I just lean against the handle of my roller, to stop the unrolling. You can see me in the last pic, if you look closely.

Only skinned 1 coyote with it. And it worked great.

Neither. I prefer a "Flopper. Have tried both the roller and clamps, actually still have clamps on my skinner but greatly prefer the flopper. Its much quicker, doesnt tear hides and seldom slips.

Critter is started and suspended from cable on winch as normal, lower critter so that it hangs with its back towards the large pipe in front of table. Flopper is open and resting against upright pole. reach thru opening, grab tail and bring up thru openingin plate. Drop Flopper against hide, and step on foot switch. The flopper wedges against round pipe holding hide tight. Hard to describe, easy to do and show.

i kinda like the pic of the one don Wolf posted. kind of a cross between the roller style and the clamp style.

I bought one from ADC a year or two ago. It works great! ADC even took the time to put out a couple videos out so everyone can see how it works. Take a look!

OK lets try this.... Imagine yourself standing in front of skinner holding a towel in your left hand so that it hang down in front of you. Flopper is in the upright position. Reach thru the opening in skinner bench with right hand and grab bottom of towel. pull it up thru opening so that towel now forms a "U" with the large pipe running thru it. Now drop the flopper and lay the end of the towel in youy right hand on top of the flopper. lay it with the end towards the hinge on the flopper. Now pull up on the towel with your left hand. See how the flopper plate would wedge the towel (hide) against the pipe? harder ya pull the tighter it wedges.

Also with this there is never a need to rehook for low ceilings. Just lower the gambrel back down and pull more hide (towel) thru the opening to get a shorter grip. Also nothing to unhook or inroll when done, just raise the flopper and the hide falls out

I have a simpler way of doing this mostly cuz I'm cheap but if the truth were to be told, I'd tell everyone I simply don't have a lot of room in my garage (ah hem...my 'skinning shed').

I bought a cheap boat winch and mouned it on a 3 ft. board. The board is then mounted with a heavy hinge to the plate at the bottom of my garage wall so I can pull it back into the wall cavity when I'm done.

A rope goes to a pully attached to my garage truss. This is lowered every time I need to skin something. I hang the critter from the rope and the back end is skun out. Then I attach the rope that goes back to the boat winch to the base of the pelt and start cranking. Its not as handy as everyone else is showing, but its cheap and cuts my skinning time down to where its manageable.
