Got another idea !! cool cool

This one would not require any special permits , licenses, airfare, etc, etc, etc,.....

Up in Fairbanks, there is a place called the Great Alaskan Bowl Company. A nice gift box of items might be something worth bidding on, or a nice wood turned bowl .

What do you all think of it ??

That might work but you'd need to see them "hands on" to appreciate them. I have one and they are nice. There are also some made from burls that are really cool but very time consuming to make. They get very expensive very quickly. Some people carve spoons from burls also. Really neat. Sounds like it would be right up your alley.

Hubby cleans up some of those burls on occasion, the ones we have are going into the new cabin. They are VERY time consuming. He hasn't done any bowls yet, just cleaned up some larger pieces for decoration.

Went to a garage sale today. Actually it was an estate sale of two old folks who had lived here since the early 20's. Man you can't believe th old stuff that was available. Anyway, while I was there I found the handles for the mauls I was asking about two days ago. One of them I have been looking for for at least 5 years. or longer. It was like shopping in a museum.

Some people are like slinkies - not really good for anything, but they bring a smile to your face when pushed down the stairs.

It looks like such a nice place to work. ( If it weren't for the cold, snow, drunks, and 1,600 mile round trip flight every week to Anchorage to get fresh food !!)

No cedar in this area or any other area I've ever seen. Maybe waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay down in SE AK.

80K won't go far if you're living in Unalaska and traveling to Anchorage very often

From Anchorage it costs less to fly to Europe than to Dutch.
