Thanks ADC. Suprisingly the tubing wasn't that much. I have it a little better than most due to a guy down the road from me selling steel dirt cheap. I think I had roughly $75 in the tubing and angle. I waited and got the hoist on sale at HF for $89. Heck yes I used your idea for the rebar;) You're a genuis. I luckily took the springs off before I welded those vice grips on. I haven't had any trouble with the gambel at all...however, I build another style that I've been using for coon. I'm sure you've seen them...they have a V cut in the steel which is bent roughly at a 45 degree angle. I still use the chain gambrel for K-9's and deer though.

I skinned quite a few cold coyotes and three deer last year on it ADC...no problems from it yet. I should just build a wider version of the other gambrel I mentioned...just haven't yet. It's a lot quicker to use.
