I put an expansion(stretches) spring in between my cable to chain connection in the handle. Pull loop tight on animal and lock chain. I can usually remove animal from trap while alive then move it away from set than kneel on pole while remaking set- both hands free. Saves time. Want to release alive just don't pull real tight for long. Don't catch coyotes or cats though they are probably more than a knee can handle.

I've learned enough thru the years to now know that I don't know enough. KNOWLEDGE IS FREEDOM.

Baker - The snare snare used on the catch "pole "is a short length of cable attached to the #9 wire with a double ferrule; a re-usable camlock, and a hammered on nut. I am still using one that has put down 6 critters.

Cball917 - 340# is the safe working load which is 1/5th of the minimum breaking strength, a big margin to avoid personal injury where that is a possibility in a repeative application. The minimum breaking strength of 1/8th 7x7 GAC is 1700#.

I got all the parts to make mine from Menards except the line tightener which came from Wal-Mart (by the hardware) when all was said and done I had enough material to make 2 of them so now I have a spare.

That's the video I watched, and then made one a few days ago, easy and cheap and will work just fine.

I made some that fit in the trap basket a couple of years ago, for my self & christmas preasents for my trapping buddies. I made them out of pvc pipe, cut it in half & added a cupling so it could be fitted back together.

This way it breaks down into the pack & you don't have to carry it. Hope that is a little clearer than mud....

It takes 43 muscles to frown, 17 to smile, but only 3 for a proper trigger squeeze.
