26 below here this morning, light breeze, 47 below wind chill. I was just out thawing out my water delivery pipe and sewer evac and it feels A LOT nicer out than 10 below and wind blowing 30 smile

Heck it's a balmy minus 18 here this morning.........so far. Okie timed his trip perfectly.

I have found that the free download of Malwarebytes cleaned my computer of 11 viruses that Norton said were there but couldn't get rid of. Give it a try.

Yup we went from 38 above on Tuesday to -30 wind chills today. Sure was nice to check traps with a cold breeze and a fur hat yesterday.

You need to wait until it gets cold so they won't crawl out of the hole.

We've had a pretty steady winter with temps of 0-30, few warmer and a few colder days, but nothing extreme. I haven't looked yet, but I know it had to get colder last night as the cabin was 45 degrees this morning, so probably looking at 0 or so, no wind... YET.

That's what I was wishing for a couple days ago, could you send Ole blister up to help? All the rich beaver bacon she can eat!

Why are all the otter fur out, do they not know they lose money on a fur out otter.

The fur buyers in years past in these parts preferd them fur out,Mink also..I am rectifiying that,in my workshops, but no matter, they are not going to the auction anyway,so no one is losing money.

Otter were sold fur out in S.E. also. Oldtimers used to build steamers, dry theirs fur out, then, steam and turn. This was primarily because a lot of otter here were traditionally hunted, and bullet hole are harder to detect, fur out. I've sold both ways, but only fur out, on shot otters, occaisionally, years ago. I've never seen much price difference, and I've sold hundreds of otters, so they seem to average out about the same.
Those regional differences are funny though, like the long, narrow YUK/KUSK mink.

I'd be interested to hear the average on those fox Jeff. Heck, I'd like to hear about all of the fur. $50 is pretty darn good for reds. If I could have averaged $40, I would have trapped more.

I wonder why those old Kusko mink were stretched so narrow. We've caught a few pigs this year and stretched them on marten stretchers. Two are around 27 NTB. My buddy has one that's 31 NTB on the same stretcher. It looks like a mini otter.

I would guess the reds averaged $40,if you removed the damaged ones..the otters are $70 if they were XL..only bought one mink so far $30..(it was a yearling and not a whopper)
getting a pretty steady suply of Lynx comming in now,I was handing out cases of Bridger #3s like fry bread smile
the fur here was bought by the inch last time we had buyers,here....I remember selling beaver by the inch..so alot of these guys will streach long as they can,I am suplying streachers,(when ever they come in,and people are using my streachers for patterns, and I should get everyone squared away and puting up some decent looking fur, they already are doing Lyx Nice...and nobody seams to have a problem with .."NOT" turning a dry otter inside out smile
