Paul it has been warm lately, and I can see about 5 ft of the driveway closest to the house,..... but the sun is meltin a little more each day...

The road is still a good 4 inches of ice though....

IMO the MB750W is the best foothold trap for wolverine.

I usually can see my driveway by May sometime but it sure isn't pavement.

I recall trapping rats from a canoe in May. There was some open water but the bottom was still covered with ice. Pretty dang slippery with hip boots on.

my first spring up here i was with a buddy who was hunting, i walked to pick up some decoys and had NO idea about the ice UNDER the water. I was cold, and wet, and had a heck of a time getting back up the bank.

I went through the ice on the Chena one time checking a beaver set in late February. Had it not been for my ice ax (turned it sideways), and a scared partner I probably would have died right there, or within a few yards down stream. Clay grabbed my collar and pulled me out, and I ran back to the truck. Lucky I was wearing wool. Another trapper named Larry Vorhees from F'banks stopped and let me sit in his truck until ours warmed up enough for me to get in it.

In other words, it is a lot of fun, but the danger is real, and you don't want to try it by yourselves.

I do recall seeing 95 degrees in North Pole when I was up there. I thought the locals would die - lol. I wasn't far behind them in that thought...

Me too Paul.

Ken, and you pucker up on the other end, and are qualified to sing soprano.

Man that was the toughest spell I've ever seen. January 27, 1989 my thermometer read 82 below.

I was out on Salmon Loaf in the Tanana Flats, supporting the excercise. Brim Frost wasn't it, or was that a year for the other one, I really don't recall. We lost a guy who smuggled a bottle of rum to the field, and hid it in a snow bank, when he decided to get him a big swig. Killed him pretty much instantly.
