With three or four feet of ice that seems like a heck of a place for otter and beaver to live, is there any open flowing water at all in winter? The beaver feed piles would have to be huge I would guess?

The beaver better make sure they build their houses in the right locations.Otter can just keep moving.Lol

Yeah this particular river has open spots all the time. That's why it is unsafe to use as a travel route. Places that were frozen yesterday may be open tomorrow.

Beaver grub piles don't seem all that large to me. I've seen much bigger ones on slower rivers. This water runs about 6-7 knots at my location.

Which river is that Ken? Where are you located, maybe that was mentioned earlier and I missed it?
