Whoa!!! What did you do to the price of gas in McG Ken?

They just decided to fly some in. Other people fly in a load but it doesn't cost THAT much. Frankly, I think it's funny. Everyone has their panties in a wad about it but really it's so extreme that I find it humorous.

Two other guys and I went and got our winter wood last wk.

Now that's a pile of wood! How much do you burn a year? It looks like all spruce, do you prefer it or is birch not available?

BB, I go through about 10 cords from Nov-April, I use both spruce/birch

Here are 40 fresh Beaver,and the last of the Red fox,getting packed up for the tannery..the Beaver are awsome this time of year,and since we still have alot of snow and ice,and temps in the 20s, the boys are still bringing them in daily,snaring through the ice.(none are mine)

Oh, how is the river looking up there? We got about 3 inches of snow last night.

River went out at Nikolai about 4 days ago so it should be another week here. Doesn't look like it though. 28 degrees this morning and still cool with a north wind.

Kusko, got the wood with a Kat where the gravel pit is going for the new runway. I figure Mothers day for breakup here.

Chena went out last night. Traps set today.....

The ice moved both above/below the village and jammed.

The Ice wont be moving anytime soon here,still 2-3 weeks away yet.

Apparently Spring has not yet completely sprung, even here near the Golden Heart City. It was snowing when I walked out to the road to get the paper at 5:30 am.

I suspect that it is a diabolical plot on the part of snowshoe hares that have not turned completely brown just yet!

Still pretty snowy here in the hills. Bears haven't hit the bait yet, so it isn't spring!

We were finally in the 40's yesterday. The birds are coming in better, but are fighting a stiff North wind.

Winter in our high country is still very much intact, even this far south.

Picture from yesterday with 7 inches of new wet snow on top of a foot of winter snow not yet melted. Was going to check out access to my camp. Far as I got, still seven miles to go and another 1500 feet in elevation. Looks like another 3 weeks at least before I can go there except by snow machine.

yes Rafe..I was in my blind watching for Birds,and he popped out about 100yrds away,I was able to slowly walk right up and shoot him.
some of the streams are opening up and a few guys are hunting them.
