Spent a bit of time last evening and some time this morning with Trapper Ty from KOTZ. Great guy! Just the sort of young guy we want in Alaska. He got weathered in here last night.

How is the fishing in Alaska around the middle of July ??

There is a deal going on for a nonstop flight from Philadelphia to ANC for only $884 round trip. That would be Coach. Looking into First Class prices on the flight and also looking into the Amtrak route up to Bellingham and then the Alaska Ferry to Anchorage. Whichever has the best deal.

Thanks,

Yea, my dad wanted to drive up from Michigan this summer...til he added up the fuel costs, lol. He decided he's gonna fly up again afterall...

IMO, Its worth the extra $ to drive up if you have the time...BC and the YT are awesome..

Thanks,

Mid July to Mid Aug is usually about peak halibut fishing and the coho are showing up good about then. Kings are questionable this year, but some parts of the state will have a late run showing up about then. I like the ferry ride from Bellingham, but it takes a few extra days to get to South Central AK- with a ferry change somewhere along the route. Not bad if you are only going as far as Juneau though.

Bell. to Juneau is about 3 days. If you are bringing a vehicle, you better check reservations, as they book up quickly in the summer. And a vehicle of say 19-20' long will set you back around $800.00 or so....each way.

Just doing what I want now.

3 reds a king and a dog in the last two days fish are starting to show well. We should have a big slug of kings sometime this week. Smoke house is ready, splitting tables in place, all we need is the fish
