Last year cost me $300 and a trip to Delta with the kid to go to court. Turned out to be a great learning experience for the kid, and not to expensive for me.

We will play with it and get it working. I didn't take the ECHO in, so not sure what the story was, only that we could buy that cheap poulan for less than the fix.

No pictures of camp. Quit taking them as they all look the same.

Hey...good morning TJ

Glad it was a " good experience for LJ " and not too expensive for dad. I remember the pic, honest mistake. No mistake this year though !!

I generally work on my own saws and other 2 cycle equipment. I own a landscape company. So I know them pretty well. If you want a little guidance let me know. They really are easy to work on. And depending on what happened to them cheap or free to repair. Perhaps I can save you a hundred buck...if so great! And I have a stock of parts if you need somthing. If it was like ran without two cycle oil..well then...junk it and give it to someone who has the same saw for parts. On your poulan saw...you might want to remove the spark arrest screen on the muffler. They gunk up and then the saw will not run well at all.

Morning Everyone!!

Well, I never thought I would say this, but after looking at Google's Street View map , I can see plenty of places in Anchorage that are just like some of the rougher Cities in NY !! Houses that were bought just a couple of years ago in Anchorage are selling for less than $20,000 Some were $10,000 !! The Realtor pictures make the inside of those properties look like a GEM !! Go on Google, and get a view of the outside of the house and the neighborhood and it makes a person want to throw up !! Almost $3,000 in property taxes for a pile of junk !!

CB,
Did I misunderstand, or did you claim to have found property in Anchorage that is selling for less that $20,000? Do you mean $200,000? Please provide more details. Something seems amiss.

Some or maybe all (though probably not) of that exterior scabbyness could be deliberate to help keep property taxes down.
I know there are houses here that are very nice on the inside
and the outside is covered with tar paper to keep the tax acessment down.

Something bad wrong about a tax that penalizes you for finishing your house.

WW, fox are fairly easy to call in. Use snowshoe hare sounds or a mouse squeaker.

Thanks! Gonna try it this winter. Heard one barking in the trees the other night.

And what is the best time of day to try this?

Had about 1/2" of ice in the water bucket two mornings ago and thought we would get snow today but it turned warmer. The growlers are feeding on dead salmon in the river like crazy. Seems like they are spending more time in the deeper water this year. Took this shot from my front deck about mid afternoon.

There are so many bears around now it is hard to keep track but this isn't the biggest guy on the block. I know large head small ears and all but when he is out of the water there is a lot of daylight between the belly and ground. Unlike the large black one around here that I think was the star of the youtube earlier this year when he had a smackdown with two sows and his partner killed three of the four cubs while he was brawling with the sows. Just haven't had good conditions to get a photo of the big guy. Here is another shot of the same bear but went back through my photos and just can't tell if I have one of him out of the water or not. Will try and get another today if the rain and overcast goes away.

How much hunting pressure is put on the bears in your immediate area? Any guides?

Just doing what I want now.

Good question. A very high percentage of the pressure comes from the guides. The other part of the harvest is the proximity to a village thing. The guides played a huge part in the every other year season also with no data whatsoever to back up that restrictive take. I and the rest of the locals have testified via the advisory boars that the bear population is totally out of wack but it comes down to BOG managing this as a trophy bear area. Show me an area managed for trophy bear that does not have an overpopulation of bear. Most of the trophy boar's taken are large boars that are also a birth control device as my you tube video shows. I also have several video of moose calves being taken by bears and just had to buy city meat for my freezer for the first time in many years.
Unfortunately the population is so out wack I don't think more liberal harvest will fix anything because of the cost/access/logistic issues to hunt here. The 22k cash cows rule.

Start having a Tman feed out thataway during the season. I'm thinking we could thin down the herd a bit...

AMEN!!

I have two rules for a trophy bear:
1) it is alone. 2) it has fur.
