I've seen dogs not touch a seasoned, cooked caribou bull from Oct......
The urine's in the muscle tissue. Their filters can only take so much so it has to go somewhere.

If you ever hunted with Alaskan, it would sound like a Blast, Blast, Blast, Blast..... DAM IT..... I have, but you need a small silent period while he reloads, followed by four more blasts, and then the DAM IT! We want to keep things accurate..... -TJ

Do you have a scientific or research paper you got this from?? i would like to read it... It seems to me, that there would not be "urine" per say in the meat, as uric acid is toxic....hence dialysis and kidney transplants, or in minor cases Gout.... Perhaps, them drinking the urine, puts a burden on the filtration and the uric levels build up, also the possibility of dehydration and malnutrition due to rutting... Intersting topic for sure.

Hup, I usually don't post something that I can't back up. Not saying that, or accusing.... Just asking for a source if you had one...as the reasons for "bad" taste are many..... and I haven't been able to find a definitive answer either way in my little research.... I was given some caribou by a guy, and fried it up and spit it out. figured it was a "fluke" or I over cooked it.... made some more, same result.... i don't know if it was poor meat care ( which i doubt considering the source) or it was a ruitting bull....

Bulls drink cow urine during the rut. Taste tells them when the cow is ready to breed. Not sure why they don't do it the old fashion way (smell check). Hence the nasty bou.

I think the French still do that...... OB, he wanted me to make sure you had the wood chopped and piled... We leave tomorrow morn. It is going to be odd when we all show up in Las Vegas with the hunting gear.... But our wives wouldn't buy it otherwise...

With the wind storms we've had here the last couple of weeks, most of them were HIGHLY mobile, and are now resting in the channel.
Just doing what I want now.

What is the deal on the new Mobile Homes in Alaska? Are they insulated better than the Mobile Homes that are in the Lower 48 ? You wouldn't believe what passes for a mobile home here... lol! Now a new one might be a little thicker, but the majority that are here on the Island are just like the ones anywhere else, only crappier.
