It is a little big for pocket carry on the line but has held up to some good punishment and a wide range of weather.
I also use a Sony pocket size HX5V because it has GPS built in that I can mark trap sites with. You can buy all the high dollar gear you want but if you don't have it with you when you need it your passing gas.
I think the ideal outback rig would would have all the features of the HX5V above plus waterproof. I found out mine isn't waterproof when I fell in the river with it. Sony fixed it for nothing and sent it back but its been stuck in the village for months.

UB mine is also a point and shoot its a Kodak 6.1 older model z series,..I know if I ever bought one of the high dollar SLRs I would promply drop it in the river for sure... frown

this fox came right up to me,the other day,in a storm...you can see his submissive pose ,I think he wanted to be my friend,..dont think he seen a person before.

I flew the coast from Kotlik to Emo the other day and couldn't believe the moose. And no where to expand. Tundra to the north and south and Bearing sea to the west. No where to go but build back up the river. No one is going hungry on the Lower Yukon that wants meat to eat.

The fox around here do not get much human contact and sometimes they act a little strange.

Yes...I am the only one that has been in my trapping country...so I know they have not seen a human this year anyway.

the fox in the above pic came up to me while stopped on my machien...the machien was still running...it happens almost daily on my line.

I think of the weird behavior is because of no ingrained fear of man because they don't see any. There are no humans around here for a long distance and we must really seem strange to them also.

Jeff, you really should have some of those printed and for sale. Maybe at the fling or just online.

Ya know, Jeff... If you ever decide to get rid of that crappy point-and-click of yours and upgrade to a real camera, I could "recycle" that old one for ya, and it wouldn't even cost you too much wink

Keep the pictures coming.

white17:

Not too bad. 25 degrees . Wind chill around 18 degrees. Had that sloppy mix of rain, sleet, snow, freezing rain early yesterday morning. Got a good 1/2 inch crust on top of the snow from the freezing rain.
