Jeff, I wonder if I should move down that way with Basil when he heads back down to MTV smile Sounds like a really healthy population of cats there. Would it be too much to send a few hundred cats up the yukon to here? laugh

Thanks Len,they seem dedicated to this, so that is a good thing, the tanned fur sales have been going good as well.
I had to move off some parts of my line to make room, but for the most part everyone is working together, some of the trappers have made a couple grand so far,so fur money in the village again.

and I can send a few cats upriver ,send some marten down smile

We are hoping to get some a trapping camp going on here at the school. We have arctic oven tents etc. I know it is on the agenda for sure next winter.

Yes it usually freezes but this year has been stranger than science. The lake has frozen up and broken up four times so far and I've never seen that before. This was three weeks ago

Pretty hard to have any confidence in that ice for travel.

Is there a local list of who is on the choping block with the latest cuts? Where are you getting Robertson time for $600? A Bell Ranger from AKN is 2K for me. Big Bucks but a lot less pucker factor than riding that skakey river. Always feels soo much better coming back on your own track until you start seeing all the water in the track.

YJ did you take a couple home with you before the day was over or did you let them run and play?

white17:

It's been a crappy month so far.

1. Been MAJOR SICK !!! Ate some Gorton's frozen fish for an early dinner and got sicker than I ever thought possible. sick

2. My crutch slipped out from under me in the Kitchen from a wet spot on the ceramic tile floor , got caught in the Oak chair that is next to the table in the Kitchen. I lost my balance , then my right foot and leg went through the wood crutch and when I fell to the floor, I heard a SNAP!! and that is when the pain hit me. Had a heck of a bruise and red mark on my leg for a while . I thought for sure that I broke it or had a hairline fracture, but the bruises are all healed up and no pain. I think the plastic leg brace kept my leg from breaking.

Trying hard to gain the weight back that I lost while sick. Must have been 10 pounds I lost.

Did you catch much on your trapline this year ?

Sounds like my week. Ive been on crutches for the last 8 days. Hope you get put back together soon.

Nope not enough on my line this year to justify the use of fuel looking for it.

I jumped off a pile of lumber and wedged my foot under it. Then fell sideways and my femur went over a 2x4 sticker under the bunk of lumber. Thought it was broken. Almost puked. Had it xrayed and they said no breaks but the muscle is torn, 5-6 weeks to heal. Ugly red/black bruise on the side of my leg. Sounds about like what happened to you.

YJ if it had been me they all 4 probably would have gotten a free ride home in my sled smile That's if I could have hit them before they found a hole running otter do not make easy targets and they are quick down a hole if one is handy
