Castor, i wear about 3-4 layers out on the snow machine, really all you can do is keep it on the 1st layer and take out fast-use-then put right back i guess. Figure i'll find out this winter.

Sounds about the same as when I was up there. My problem was always the best pictures to be had were when it was shoot before you could aim lol..... I'll take the cold over bugs any day though!

I always look pregnant when I am trapping. I keep my point and shoot in my breast pocket but my sat phone, video camera and gps all go in the layer between my long johns and shirt. Always warm and pretty handy. They all seem to jiggle in place such that I don't even notice them.

Same here.

I keep all those things that need to be kept warm in a stuff sack down the front of my chest, with the drawstring looped over the back of my neck. I find that if I put something in a breast pocket, it is invariably going to fall out when I lean over to set, or relure or something.

I also line the stuff sack with a plastic bag to avoid having sweat condense on the items.

I do this as well with the camera, VHF, and GPS problem is your coat ends up weighing an extra 10 pounds there has to be a better way to keep them all warm and handy

Morning, last year i carried a VHF radio with me...i had it inside my jacket clipped on the top of my Goretex Bibs. It got very uncomfortable bringing that everywhere. I can get max distance (20-25 miles) depending on my elevetion and line of site of the distance between me and home.

Only issue I have had with having camera's inside my jacket is that there is always some moisture from your body and when you pull them out to take pictures in the cold, they fog right up.

I keep my point and shoot in my buttoned breast pocket. I have not had trouble with my video camera. but it is in a case.
I like putting them in separately as they all find a home that seems to be more comfortable than putting in a bag that would stay in one place. They work around my side etc. I really don't know there there for the most part.
I try to dress layered such that I don't sweat much.

Unlikely. Been wondering where Ken and Barb have been. Looks like the only place in the country hiring!

Just doing what I want now.

There was a lot of green on that bird......

I don't know who is more tired and sore....me or the dog. It's been 38-44 and blowing 25-30 everyday. Really wears a guy out. Not as many birds as last year but just as much fun. That's Barb's first bird ever. She was pretty happy. Only took 17 boxes of shells to get it.

I have a friend in northern NM who kept noticing a really nice muley buck in one of his alfalfa fields.

He took note of the fact that anytime the big buck saw a pickup slow down within a 1/2 mile, he would skedaddle right away. However the deer was comfortable with a tractor going by cutting or raking or conditioning or baling hay. Wouldn't even lift his head.

So this enterprising cowboy took his muzzleloader with him on the tractor and killed the buck at under 50 yards.

Scored over 215"!

Pete

It's funny how much her shooting improved when I gave her a shell with shot in it. Also Ken, you better hope the ol blister don't see that picture. She's gonna to real mad when she sees that pretty young thing you brought to South Dakota.
