It is frozen closed here but there are some big stretches that are still open. This is actually late for this location.

Here is the Skinning shed 8'x8'x8' I built this fall, been good so far, lil small but cost effective when fuel is $6 a gallon for fuel. So see how it works out this winter. Also using a bravo to make it cost effective when gasoline is $7 a gallon. How big is your guys skinning sheds?

The skinning starts outside and as the temperature drops moves into the windbreak with the last stop being the living room!

My shed is 12x16 and I heat it with wood. It's also storage for a lot of Alaska Fin and Fur equipment so if it's not organized, it's a nightmare to get anything done. My first year I did 56 reds in the boiler room of my house. The wife training video from White paid off as she is also a connoisseur of green belly.... smile

Watarrat, nice wolves and wolverine! Thats pretty cool. I used my dads garage for the last few years and last minute in Sept. I decided to make something. Was always there late on school nights and the kids were tired out in the AM so i had to do something. Wish i could of built bigger but trapping gear budget was impeding that choice shocked! Kusko, wow thats alot of reds! I never really had a line i could really run but this year i have a decent lil run to do. So i have high hopes for this season. Should be alot of learning and fun. Good luck guys!

lol yeah, gets pretty warm in there quick lol. I leave the temp turned to around 55 degrees. 10 gallons in about 6 weeks so far. The Skinning Outhouse is part Airforce sheetmetal roof, Old Church windows, federal housing door, mix up of lumber, re-used airbase insulation, and the plywood i got from a buddy. The toyo i had in my old house. Oh yea and a old thrown away 4x8 airline sign! Quite the trapper creation lol

The joy of skinning in the kitchen living room dissapeared at my house this year after doing it there for 30yrs I built a 12x20 fur shed. It keeps getting called the man cave by a certain someone and I am told all I need is a bed and I can live out there. I think she needs a little retraining!

I have always skinned in the combination, kitchen, living-room, bedroom. It's always pleasant to eat dinner next to a frozen wolf hanging from the ridge pole for 4-5 days. Lovely natural air freshener.

If you suggest to the Fish Boss that she needs retraining, you may actually ending up sleeping out there in the new shed (even without a bed!)

Well I am also bored, sitting waiting for the fur to prime, so decide to get the net set today and have fresh fish while I wait.

Jeff can you explain how that is set up? Is it just one net connected below or two?
