Remember what happened just about this same time two years ago. We lost every bit of snow out west. Almost the same deal. Was set up to start trapping and bank it was all over for a month.

That's not bad either considering how much meat you get!

What a storm, looks like it's covering most of the state. The wife says it sounds like the house is coming apart in Palmer and It's blowing a gale up here. I hope everyone is safe and sound.

Was 48 and raining when we finally made it out to the line. Watched the wind take a tree down in an old burn right next to us. A bit exciting. Need some snow out there now. Busted up my lip when I hit a beaver stump and came to an abrupt stop. To many things poking up through too little snow out there for my liking.

We've lost about 4-6 inches of snow but still have 3 feet left. I think there's overflow on my boardwalk. Someone's plane had the wings collapse today. Bad day at Black Rock for him.

The boy was right, they only charged him $50.00. I wish I could get out there and shoot one! What a deal!

Wore my Xtratuffs on the line today! Went back forth from rain to big heavy wet snow to rain and back. Didn't get anything, will put pics of my new rear bumper/box on my journal. Be safe out there!

I wore my tuffs too and the overflow was over my boots...cold wet feet is no fun.

The good news it that it will drop to the upper teens tonight here. I kind of like everything freezing down, gives me something to do tomorrow.

Two tries to go deer hunting in the last two days but no deer. Yesterday we aborted just a few miles shy due to weather, and today we made it, but my buddies got caught on the beach when the wind and seas came up out of nowhere. Trying to get off the beach was a struggle, and the raft got swamped a half dozen times. On one attempt they got off the beach but a four footer pitched the raft up so steep that one of the guys thought it was going over and jumped out into the surf! We had some good laughs about that. His new nickname is swamp rat...lol! They got the raft back up, dumped the water out, and I had to take the big boat in almost to the beach and float them a line (with a buoy). They pushed off, got the buoy line, held on and I dragged them out of the surf for pickup. That was just the start of a really fun day! grin Saw lots of deer but the wind just kept picking up. After having a tough time getting off a different beach (swamping the raft and my turn to get wet) we called it good and came back home. Will wait for few days and try again. Ain't Alaska a hoot?

Wild. That reminds me of the time I left a guy on the beach to sleep while the kids and I stayed on the boat. Woke up to a surf. He couldn't get off the beach by himself. Had to float him a line and pull the raft off and out. Wet ride.
More memories. ;0)

We had a pretty good surf when I shot the last deer this season. Luckily there was a good undertow and we timed it right and launched the raft at just the right moment. It sucked us out just past where the surf was breaking and we were on our way. 3 guys, our gear and a deer in the raft and we didnt get wet at all. I thanked our lucky stars.

Mad_Mike and I got to be ice breakers yesterday. We got over 50" of snow in November, then it rained to the point of washing away most of it, then froze to the point of iced-over salt water. Gotta love it!

We had the Mother of all blows last night. Don't know what the wind speed was as it took out both my anenometers. Still picking up the pieces. Thought the house was going on a visit to see Toto a couple times. A couple days ago we had this pair move through doing a moose survey. Crappy photo but the best I could do from >1200 yards.
