So I thought I'd try my hand at mukluks finally after all these years of sewing. I've had lots of people ask me if I make them. Here's an almost finished one, still planning on putting some leather around the top and haven't decided what to do with the sole or what type of lining yet.

I'm thinking $500+ depending on the fur. They really are a lot of work, AND a lot of material! I think I've found some sole material that I'll be able to purchase too.

I did some searching online and the cheap rabbit ones are $300, saw some wolf ones for $1200...lol

Ya but being done one pair at a time is always worth more thne getting a pair from a factory . I bet they are real warm and fairly waterproof also .

SDAhunt, this is buffalo. i don't know as there's a lot of difference between a 10 and a 14, probably just a few inches...LOL

Skykeeper, that's a very good point. From my understanding, SOME Alaskan mukluks aren't made for being waterproof, but for use in dry snow. I'm sure the coastal natives use seal for the more waterproof ones.

Ok, can get a wolf for $200 shipped to me. I'll also need to look into felt liners, cost and shipping, unless you want to get/choose your own? My sewing fee is $175 to make them.

I have a couple places I buy from smile

They are felted wool, usually about 70-75% wool.

I am very interested in a pair or two yes Wolfwoman . Money is a bit tight right now after christmas and such . But Trust me I will contact you when I have the money to get a pair or two of them from you Wolfwoman . Need to get the size foot of the other person though cause that pair would be a christmas present for next year . Or would it be better for you to have a tracing of the persons feet ?
