This is apparently the 200th post on this Journal! Let's party!




Wow that was fun, so anyways here's some put up fur. Let me know what you think.

This rat was pretty big, wire stretcher hooks just about to the max. This is the one on the very left in the picture from the last post.







Have 17 so far to go in to NAFA, gotta have them at the drop off point tomorrow morning in town. Hoping to do pretty good on the rats.

Lucky you! I can't seem to find the rats anywhere around here.

Jordan, it was like that here too! And then all of a sudden there were rat toilets here and there. And now rats daily!

I'm still checking ponds here, but nothing. They were there in the fall, but now it seems like they're gone.

Oh well.

April 2, 2012:

One at a toilet set, the other on a float both along rat runs to the shore.
One snapped 110 too.

looks like your rats didnt freeze out ours did a guy that traps here was running 200 traps (I think) and only caught two

We had quite a few freeze. Normally twice this many rats on that swamp Snostorm.
But alot lived, which is very good.

April 3, 2012:

2 Muskrats today, going to set some more traps over the course of the next few days. Hope to get a few more before the next sale.

Only got a picture of one, the other was in too dark of water to snap a picture of.



And also seen my first garter snake of the year, was two of them but wasn't quick enough to get the other guys picture!

Well we know spring is definatly here now! Forecast isn't calling for much more below 0 temperatures here either.
You getting many more rats? Will have to check your journal tonight, how about beaver?

nope nothing tons froze out the creeks are loaded with dead fish and minnows

Not alot of minnows around here this year either. Haven't seen dead ones but haven't seen many live ones either.

April 4, 2012:

3 Rats today and a small beaver at a toilet set.

So I come up on the last trap and the stake was gone. Couldn't see it anywhere, then all of a sudden something brown moves under a patch of reeds. It was too large to be a rat and I automatically assumed it was a beaver. Catching a beaver in a stoploss and holding it isn't un heard of. So I grabbed the gun, got around to him and shot him from 4 feet away.
Pulled him out of the water and then pulled the trap up with him. Didn't even bother to try and chew the stake!
