March 6, 2012:

Had a good snow storm last night, and i'm using the term loosely.. it dropeed a few inches of snow on us. So the highways were bad, in turn no school.

Good day to do some furs up.

The mink was given to me at the AGM & Convention as well as a dozen+ squirrels. Not all of which are that great of condition. Frozen too long.

But the mink was nice, let me know how my put up is.

Put up a few rats too today. Will take some pictures when they are all off of the boards.
Here's the mink pelt fur side out:

Got Squirrels?

the only thing that could be improved on the mink is pin the back legs to the tail side other than that it looks great

Keep on doing those squirrels. When they have been in the freezer the tail dries , so you should flex the tail back and forth several times before you try to stipe them off.
Sorry about the bad weather last weekend and not getting to your areas sponsoring the Annual meeting of the Manitoba trappers Association. Hear you guys feed 150 people for dinner.
I did up 20 weasel boxes to be nailed together, so sorry could not make it.
Get out there and go after those rats now with this warm weather.

Yes it was a great turn out at the AGM.

Thank's for making the boxes, perhaps save them for the NAFA open house?

Spring Muskrat and Beaver Trapping is just around the corner. The water is running here in Manitoba due to the highs of +13 Celsius in the day time and lows of -1 Celsius at night. Crazy March weather, the Canada Geese are already back as well.

March 15, 2012:

Went out to pull a couple under ice beaver sets today, and the ice has surface water........ everywhere!

Pulled this trap up and had a young beaver in it. It's the first one of spring. I have set a personal goal of 50 beaver in 3 weeks once they start moving alot. They aren't quite in the ditches yet. But I'm expecting with in the next week I will start seeing rats anyways.

Rats are moving slowly up here, same with beaver. But only in the swamps.
Set a few rats sets today.

Otherwise it's been pretty crappy. wink

3 rats on the check today and 1 ring out.

Had one big guy a live at a toilet set, and had to dispatch him. Coyotes and Foxes make catch circles, but so do rats! Lol

And here's the 3 rats from today, different size range too!
