I was talking to a couple guys at NAFA today. They said Beavers and Muskrats are still looking good. No bite marks at all.

If anything it will get worse as the vie for territories and females.

Yes, not expecting it to get better by any means. But like i've said elsewhere, a rat with a few bites in it is worth more then no rat at all.

2 Muskrats today and put another half dozen sets out for rats just because I can.

No pictures really worth taking but,
Will be putting a video out in a day or so on all of the rat catches since I started this spring.

Happy Easter folks.

Today got only 4 rats. But here's a few pictures.

Got 38 so far out of the swamp. I think alot of them must have froze out early in the winter, normally there are alot more rats moving around this time of year.
Only able to run a dozen or so traps, then I run out of places to set.
Having fun doing it though.

Only caught one rat yesterday as were getting a thin layer of ice on the swamp and they don't have to go in the water quite as much. I was dissapointed to find mink crap and tracks right next to a muskrat set. Shame I couldn't trap it this time of year... will do damage to my rats if he finds any.

And took a beaver in the channel set I had made to stop any more "Stoploss Beaver". Fairly half decent sized male.

Notice the nice big leech on his lip, yum yum!

Here is my YouTube video of that beaver:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvyQuFmzss8

Have also had a nice share of wood ticks on me in the last week. I'd say probably about 10 just from walking around out there.

Try to clean up and dig deeper areas around you rock catch area, and the rats will sink and be out of sight and the next none will not bite them for sweet justice. Just a little showing is all it takes.
Get those clothes pins on the sides of the stretchers.
You should look at changing so you can pin on those stretchers, with some add-on ply wood and plumers strapping.
Keep on them once this weather warms up there will be a big movement.

I was ready to pull trap's next check. Only 1 muskrat today.
I like the wire stretchers for the rats that aren't bit up. Anything with bites goes on a wood board.
