Just wanting to know what everyone does that traps moles & vols after a 1-week or 2-week or longer job is done! When the customer asked what if i see more in a week? Do you do a follow up for free or do you charge a different price to come back and follow up with new activity ?

Thanks

We offer a 30 day guarantee on mole work after each trapping program is completed. Voles, we use baiting techniques with monthly service or as needed under our contract language. In some cases when a customer wishes we trap also with a follow up baiting. Vole work is on going in most all of our work areas so there are no guarantees except for on & off service to keep them in check as needed.

If they still have mole after intial 2 week program I will extend the program to pick up stragglers until there is no fresh activity( this seldom happens). If they get moles again later in the same calander year,I offer an aditional 2 week program at a discounted rate.

Our 7-10 day program is around $500.00 on avg. That is one set up and 3 checks and rotation of traps if needed while on site. Some local programs with very little travel and mole activity we may go as low as $250.00 > $350.00. However for the most part we are $450.00 and up.

IMO there are a several factors to consider but call backs cost you money so do the best job you can the first time. Some work on a flat rate basis and others, like myself, do it on a set up fee plus a per capture fee. When you initially create your fee structure/fee strategy/guarantee the costs of potential call backs should be factored in. In highly populated areas where there is high mole density in the yards then a flat rate plus a 30 day guarantee seems ideal. However in areas like mine the accounts are strung out and I average 100-300 miles per day on trap checks. The set up fee that I charge helps offset the fuel costs during service. The harder I work and the quicker I resolve the mole problem the more profit I retain from the set up fee in addition to the capture fees. (I do a 30 day and a 6 month program and the details are on my website for review). As far as followups I wait for the customer to call me if they see new mole activity. If it is within the timeframe they signed on for then there is no charge for the return visit - only a capture fee. I have tried a flat rate program but with an average of 1-3 moles per lawn it didn't work for me. Now... if I was in an area that averages 6-10 captures per lawn then I would be do flat rate pricing. Voles are on a flat rate plan for 10-30 days with weekly trap checks only with no guarantees. Hope this helps you a bit.
