Consistency smooth like cake batter. Smells like poo. Been happening every 3 night or so on an upper deck. Just slightly smaller than a hamburger. We set a trap for coon or possum today. I don't remember ever seeing this poo, and we all know how much poo we'uns look at over the years.

Around here gray fox poo looks like that in certain areas(dietary), and they certainly maintain there toilet areas regularly. On decks, boats, etc, are pretty common toilet areas for residential grays in this area.

The homeowner put a child gate, but would a gray climb over it just to poop? The only attraction on the deck is a covered barby.

A gray will leap right over a gate, I have seen several times where grays were licking the residue off the bottom of barbeques, and any odor like that can stimulate them to make a toilet. If you wash the turd off, and it reappears, then it is most certainly a gray in my experience.

Set a tall cage trap, cover the bottom wire good, and if its a gray he should go right in for a fresh sizable food type bait. Catch it and let us know!

The only attraction on the deck is a covered barby. What was the last thing cooked....

I've had skunks and coons come on the porch for the drip can on the bottom of the bbq...

Ordinary men can do extrodinary things....

Always looking for Bridger #3OS and 1.65OS

No coon toilet . What gets them to mark on decks is the oil base stain . The stain has fish oil in it . Call me nuts . That's why are state had to replace all the signs on public land . The bears were eating them . True story . I'm not joking it's true . Happened back in the 90s

I think so Paul . I get like this when I spend to much time down in the city . I loose all sence of direction . Need a few days up north on a lake and camp fire . Get my head right . Get right with nature . Think I'm going to shut it down come the holiday . Wish I had some magic botton to lock my traps down . I don't understand why I feel guilty for taking a few days off . Just sick in the head I guess .

When I was a one man show I would feel like I was letting the customers down by taking even a single day off. I know all of the disadvantages to having hired help but being able to go somewhere without a guilty conscience or closing cages is a definite plus!

Agreed !! It is Very easy to become a workaholic. Especially when you have limited times when the phone is really ringing you gotta make hay when the sun shines. A guy needs to spend time with his family now and then and I like to fish used to 6 days a week before this I got this gig now its more like 6 times yr.

Phil,
You gave a lot of clues. It looks like poo, it smelled like poo, and was the size of a hamburger. I think I could guess it if it tasted like poo. I'm thinking it doesn't because...my dear Watson
without that clue I'm leaning towards one of mine or Pesky's co-horts possibly another wco made it with a foam gun purchased from Phil Nichols. Then threw a little stink on it know knowing you would smell it. They didn't worry about the taste because they were pretty sure you wouldn't taste it. They knew we all loved mystery's and would spend a lot of time on it while they were out making money with their foam guns.
Check and see if it breaks. When you break it you can tell its foam. Maybe see if your dog will roll on it. Finally shoot the stuff that is one sure way to tell if its real. I am pretty sure its not bull stuff because that is more the size of a pizza and I've been around a lot of it. If you can't figure it out wrap it in some charmin send it to me in a plain brown wrapper I think I can figure it out. I have a masters in shtology

Thanks a lot Paul B. Threw that pile of crap into the woods and sprayed anti-smell stuff on the deck.. did not taste it. If you along with your other sneaky WCO friends are in cahoots plotting against me and plotting against the foam ........ all I have to say is....

Customer saw coon on deck, it would not go in to the trap. Neither would the coon. Customer said when they stained the deck it smelled "fishy!"

Once I was callled to a house to identify a dropping a guy found in his house. Long story short...it was a turtle candy. Made me think of the scene in Caddyshack in which Carl has to drain the country club pool cuz somebody saw a turd in it. "Mmmm, Baby Ruth." (Rich WASP lady faints.)
No, I didn't eat it. But would've if somebody had a video camera.
