Oh Ya. If any of you get the bright idea to pressure test an aluminum tank for leaks. The preferred amount is 3-4 lbs. I found out the hard way. Applied some pressure to a tank just by holding on a rubber nozzle ended blower to a board, with neopreme for a seal, to the filler hole to hopefully find my hydraulic oil weep. Not sure how much pressure that would provide but it was tooo much and kerpluueeee. Seam cracked for 9 inches 5 inches infront of my face. Thank goodness I had glasses on. My hair looked like a muskrat that had been in the water for a week. No fluff to it. ;0) Live and learn. Cleaning up the boat of 5 glallons of hydraulic oil was a lot harder than cleaning me. ;0)
Thank good ness it was in my yard and not the harbor. cry

We had a short three hour comercial opener last night.there was a decent amount of fish we could of filled the boat in a longer period but we did OK with such a short opening.

FnG is still in panic mode because of the kings so they let almost 2 million chums and almost 100,000 kings swim by so that was pretty nice of them to give us three hours..lol

Thanks AKN....and Happy Birthday!

we managed to get three Kings in our Chum gear as well, we cant sell them so we are jaring fish today and cut a dozen strips for the smoke house,so we are pretty happy about that, as we have not had a subsistance king opening yet this year.

seems like the Fish are still hitting the lower river yet but this is realy late in the season and I suspect they were just late because of the cold water we had this year.

they had 9 comercial openings down river so far we could of fished but its a 80 mile round trip and from what I heard the boats were stacked up pretty good...not my kind of fishing.

46 degrees this morning, rain going sideways, wind sounded like it was going to take the roof off all night long. Look's like October on the Ak Peninsula here this morning. Got a dusting of new
snow on the mountain tops this morning too. Anyway, June and July has been pretty cloudy and
cold here this year. Maybe we are going into an ice age? Where is the news media? "We're all
gonna' DIE". grin

The Ak Peninsula looks like the Ak Peninsula in October also. Never really had a spring. A lot of the alders are still half brown and a lot of snow left at altitude. Nothing like I've ever seen before. Can't believe the fish are running so close to normal.

Nope. Took them on my subsistence net. We take just enough every year to make it through the winter. We did good last year as we had one fillet left when the reds hit this year.

Bob, I figured you guy's were getting hammered. Looking at the satellite weather map this looks like a huge system, looping around up in White17's neck of the woods and may come
back around and hit us again. Hope it breaks up before it gets back here.
Nice fish you got there.

bob, what is the generator for? You run the bear fence around the boat perimeter??

did some hiking the other day and there are just starting to be some buds on the high level alders...

i wonder if they will have enough time to prepare for the winter, being that they don't even have leaves yet...

We spent the last 10 days in rain down pour at times. Some of the ugliest weather I have seen in a while

We have been having some pretty nice weather except for the intermitent rain clouds that been going over pretty hard rain coming out of them at times.

we went comercial fishing again tonight was kind of slow we managed just 400 lbs, had fish and game land on us with their super cup on floats while we were drifting with the net set out and had us hold up our permit card and crewmans licence and that was it,he then taxied up to the the next guy fishing up the river and checked him.

Hup:
My cleaning table is a stretch for a extension cord so I use the Honda to power my electric fillet knife. Finally gave up on the electrics after melting two so far this year.
Spek:
We have had ten days of real crap weather. Our grandson spent a week of his leave time with us and the sun was only out a few hours while he was here.
