Went out to have a look for geese tonight, so I could hunt tomorrow morning. Saw none unfortunately. Guess I gotta wait for the rest to come from the north.

Shot two skunks and some mallards though.

That time of the year they are starting to move around and I do not need any more in my yard then what there is.

Went to hunt some ducks today and came up on this big girl in a half drained beaver pond. Not alot of them around and this is the second one I've seen this year.

With those skunks take a loop of baler twine and make a cinch and put it on the back foot, put a nail through the back tendon, tie a stout stick 2 feet from the end, then throw another cord over a tree limb and hoist the skunk 6 feet above the ground.... close to the marten/fisher set youwant to make on season opener. The ground predators and ravins will leave it alone, and the decomposition will perfume the area as the best attractant you can get. Wear some skinning gloves for non-contact with possiable rabies. The dropping fly larvae will have the essence on and in them and their crawling on the ground, will keep many a predator interested.

Now you see the value of keeping a few beaver around, and a pond or two and the benifits of other wildlife.

Yea, I take a needle and syringe and take out the essence on the skunks. And yes, that is about the only good thing I have seen of those beaver. Unfortunately the moose probably will not survive for long, too many poachers here.

Use the whole carcuss and that will be a perminately perfumed site. Your sets go some 20 yards away so you do not walk through them and get "peppy la pue" on your boots.

Few night's ago it was bang on 0 Celsius. At about 11:30 last night I had this temperature (all though digital it is very accurate)

and this morning at 9:30

Alot colder so far this year then it was in most of October last year. Hoping for a normal winter like usual. A few feet of snow and some -40!

To say the least, dinner and lunch tomorrow will be mighty fine!

Hauled a load of wood today, and started piling the winter supply.

Quite a bit more to come home yet, but this is my favorite time of year.
If only the last few mosquito's would die off already.

Started this morning out at 5:45 for a goose hunt. Did not bad, between three shooters we knocked off 15 Canada's.

Then went and speed dipped the rest of the traps for the season.

Then went for a grouse hunt down a trail afterward's, the dog put this nice pine marten up the tree. Snapped a few quick pictures.

Here's a quick video, you can see him better there.

That was interesting to see, and will hopefully see him in a Belisle again this winter!
