Is that a Norwegian Elkhound akpaw? Yes, he is about 11 months old. My wife got him for me for Christmas. He's my hiking buddy... name is Trapper. Good temperament, smart, loves to play, very active, and digs like a badger... lol!

Dirt, love your "Who is John Galt"...I'm in the bush, so never saw the first movie, did you? Any good?
Man, the 3 hour speech by Galt is sooo important in today's discussion of taxes, economics, etc.....or lack of discussion...

I never would have imagined Pillar looking like that! Do the turbines supplement KEA?
Just doing what I want now.

I never would have imagined Pillar looking like that! Do the turbines supplement KEA? Yes, the first three were put in a few years ago and the last three just finished up. KEA is putting in a third hydro turbine at Terror Lake in the next couple of years as well. By the time they are done Kodiak will be @ 95% renewable energy, with the other 5% from the diesel generators as needed. The wind turbines were Federally subsidized. It's actually a pretty good deal for us with diesel as high as it is. Our rates have stayed pretty stable and are low compared to most of the state. They sure did tear up a lot of mountain top to put those things in though.

Dirt, One thing I did not see in Atlas Shrugged was a scene about the Federal Government's purchasing 1.2 BILLION rounds of Ammo!!!! WHAT THE HE!!? I did read on Reuters that in Iraq, we used an average of 70 million rounds a year...let me see, we had 19 alleged hijackers on 9/11, and the government expended 0 rounds of ammo on them...now we need 1.2 billion rounds for our new federal police force of less than 144,000 officers, which many are SECURITY GUARDS at NOAA, the Social Security offices, etc!!!!! And most of which was .223 Full Metal Jackets, outlawed by the Geneva Convention...So let me get this straight, we can't use FMJ against our enemies, but we can use it here in the good old US of A against our own people????
As General Turgidson said in "Dr. Strangelove, "Mr. President, I'm beginning to smell a big fat commie RAT!"..
I wonder if the federal fish and game dept is part of Homeland Security? Anyone know? See, this post IS TIED into trapping!!!

CB, The date on the original pic file says March 2007. Pretty sure that's right.
