Not what you think. I saw some one else post that they were 2 weeks into quitting Copenhagen so he could get a new gun. And I looked at my can this AM. And put it back. Im 17 hours into the process, and am eating like a hog. I figure 3 days should be the make or break point. Im going to keep the can in my pocket. And eat alot of jolly ranchers!

Best of luck. What is your reward?

I will send you $50 if ya quit for 6 months. But, if you cheat...just one time...you send me $100. What do you think?

If I can quit beer and cigarettes on the same day, you can give up the spitting. That was almost 33 years ago and I'm still crabby. I sure could use a beer and a cigarette right now! I've been told that if you go to heaven, they have all that stuff and it's free!

I tried chewing that gum and ended up liking that better than the cigs . Had to start smoking to get off the gum . So then I started chewing ended up liking that better than smoking . Chewing started makng my teeth feel like they going to fall out .Had to start smoking to get off the chew . Next time ill just go cold turkey , seems to work better for most and rewarding yourself worked real well for my Dad . Im sure reading this makes you just want to chew so sorry about that . Real simple just don't put it in your mouth . Kinda like fat people .

Good luck Mike. Lost both my parents to that darn tobacco. Neither one of them made it to Fifty.

We need you around Mike. Who else is going to teach me to do bat cleanouts?

I think it was Saturday night at 1000 pm when I last put a dip in. My callous in my lip is almost gone already. I can taste food a little better. That aint such a good thing, as I eat at gas stations allot, and Im just finding out what I have been eating. LOL . I am still having a nic fit or two a day, but all I have to do is grab some jolly ranchers and its under control. I go through a little over half a bag a day. If its as much easier tomorrow as it was today from yesterday, this will be a sinch from here on out.

How are you planning to kick the jolly rancher habit? I have failed a few attempts at quitting smoking, going to go another round with that demon very soon:) Good luck

Mike, after smoking for more than 30 yrs. I DESIDED to quit. I was going into the hospital to have my knee replaced and knew I couldn't smoke in there so I made the decision to quit then. I believe that before you can trully quit using tobbacco to must really WANT to stop. I guess what helped me make that decision was when cigs went to almost 5 dollars a pack the "cheepskate" in me came out and I thought "Iam not going to pay that kind of money to kill myself"!! and never picked up a smoke again and that has been seven years ago.

Bob, I admire your courage and your "cheapness". Just to put this whole thing in proper perspective, when I quit, cigarettes were still less than a buck a pack ( And I could still get some of the best beer brewed in America for $3 for a 24 glass bottle case ) so every time you think about it ( And there will be times ) think about me. I'm the shining example of not killing yourself even if it doesn't cost a lot!

Might take 100 days Mike, but the first three are the roughest. Go to killthecan.org for some tips, good place. Try Smokey Mountain Herbal Snuff, its still dip but dip you can run out of without making everybody hide from you. I've been snuff free for almost two years. I still have dreams where I stop at a store and buy a can. Don't think about that refreshing deerstand dip, think about the one that made you have a choking fit and get heartburn. You can do it.

I've done the hooch, worst fake dip I tried was Youngs chew. It says on the can..."it's not bad", what it does not say is, it's not good either! Sunflower seeds, coffee grounds, it all gives you something to take your mind off it. Now if I could only find some fake hog jowls I'd be the picture of health, almost got stuck in an attic access the other day.

Im over the 3 day mark now.I have noticed that my hands arent cold when I wake up any more. And I feel like I need to be working allot more. I need to be moving around from the time I get up until I get back in bed. Im not being mean to people, or impatiant, I just feel motivated. Yesterday in the woods I smelled the odor of someone smoking a cigarette. The wind was coming across an open field at least 500 yards to the other side.

Dang, Wink, what life-changing event happened on that day? Either you got married or saved!

I had a very good joke here, but it's not for general consumption.

To answer Dave, that was the day I went to get a beer out of the frig and there wasn't any. Since I was sober, I realized that when my wife called me a cigarette puffing drunk, she was'nt just kidding around. It also happened to be the day my only son was born so
I was flying high without the use of stimulants! That was a good day. ( But boy, I could use a beer and a cigarette! )

I guess today is day 5. I have too much investd in this to even think about turning back now. The thought of putting that stuff in my mouth, and a rotting cup of spit in my truck makes me wanna yack. I still have a jolly rancher every now and then, and I hope this higher energy level stay with me for a while.

Well thanks fellas! (Paul) I am still a little wound out from the time I open my eyes, until I crash at night. But I am able to channel it into getting allot more done in a day, talking faster, and eating constantly. Instead of eating full meals, I eat a few peanuts, an apple, baby carrots, a couple of bananas. I keep a jug of water in the truck to drink.

Don't ever try it again man. Nothing that is that hard to quit is worth it. If you get around somebody that is smoking or dipping, just remind yourself of how much more will power you have than them.

I cant stand the smell of smoke, it gives me a head ache. Cope was the only one that could work for me, and now that stinks like worm dirt off the bottom of an old hamster cage.

Here is something that you may not know. ( Of course, I've posted this before, so if you're an avid reader, then you already know ) I enjoyed smoking and probably had my first cigarette with my old man right after I was born. What I was not aware of was that I had asthma. When you smoke, the nicotine does a better job of masking the asthma symptoms in your throat than any of the medication that I have been prescribed. The bad part was that I watched so many of my relatives die of lung cancer, that I opted for the asthma.

I've been off Cope for about 9-10 yrs now, went through tons of candy back then but made it through. Gotta say though there are still those times I just want to grab some and start up again.
