Well I have had the pleasure of working in the King Cove School this week. What a beautiful area.
No bears sighted yet but there here. Big bear trails all over town.
Been 3 in the dumpster every night next to the houses across from the school. Brown Bears.
Lots of bear stories here.
There the town pests.
So I over packed my food cache for the trip. Not use to a cannery Town.
Thought I would keep up with the meal posts.
Peter Pan Seafoods provides meals three times a day for not only employees but for whoever wants to come and eat in the town. Fee for non employees is $10 a meal.
Saturday night is Steak night and pretty popular. All you can eat every meal.
Had halibut on Wednesday. Cod and Shrimp tonight. And a huge salad bar. At least considering where we are. Oh ya!
Was hoping to loose a few pounds over the weekend. Well so much for that idea.
Picked some carrots from my garden to bring out before I left Homer. A good crop this year.
I love using my home made carrot seeder. Evenly spaced, no thinning. This is a photo of the ground after I took the carrots out. One carrot space left between each carrot. I have the spacing just right. Time to patent it!
I grow a variety from
Johnny Seeds which is pelleted. The key to not planting too close as happens with regular carrot seeds. They are called Bolario They are an excellent eating carrot and keep all winter. I was eating carrots I stored in damp sand till April and they were still great.
Ready for distribution to friends, family and taking to King Cove.
I trasplant a number of carrots each year as the kids love the odd balls that happen when you transplant. Splits, etc.
This one was a double post that got involved behind closed doors.
