It's coming! I am quite enjoying the snow.

Woke up this morning and it snowed a fair amount last night for this time of the year.

Quickest raccoon removal I've ever done.

Good job on the nuisance work. The fur on those will prob be a tad on the flat side.

Ron - it's definatly not peak prime but I was quite shocked on how well the pelts looked.

Those look pretty nice how much fat on them?

One of the little ones, quite a bit. The other little one, basically none. And the big one basically none.

October 7,2012:

Cut up and started to put together some tapered marten boxes today.



Also got the snowmobile loaded up, has a few minor things that need tune up before the snow flies. How ever, it started no problem like always.

How deep does your snow get?Ski skins really help in deep snow to keep the front of your machine up.

Last winter not deep, on a normal winter I'd be going through 4 feet in a lot of places. I asked the guy at the repair shop to put some ski skins on.

October 14, 2012:

Got up early this morning for muskrat opener and set I guess about 20 sets out. They aren't super far from home so I figured i'd give a quick check tonight and this is what I had.


Also went and had a look at a beaver colony in a ditch. This lodge and feed bed is new. Only had one 330 with me, so till tomorrow night just one good chance to take a beaver there.

October 15, 2012:

Checked traps tonight, had 7 rats and a skunk.

Woo hoo!

That's what I'm saying!
I'm putting a few more rat sets out here and there as I go but nothing crazy, one day soon the weather is gonna decide too get cold and when that day comes I will be pulling traps through ice. I don't mind 6 or so rats a day right now anyways.

October 16, 2012:

Checked traps tonight, 6 muskrats, a coyote and a nice beaver.

The fur is so flat it isn't even funny. This guy was just removed from a farmers yard. Was coming into the yard and he was worried about losing barn cats. I am not trapping coyote's yet otherwise.
