Just me and my cartel buddies keep things hoppin Paul! AZ, NM are of course the major drug routes to come out of Mexico. Doing a job in Las Cruces right now and have to come back through a check point at border patrol each day with my van. I know I'm whiter than white, but I have a cargo van, no windows in the back and the only questions I get is "U.S. citizen? and "anyone in there with you?"
To which I reply, yes sir, and no sir, and off I go!
I see gang tattoos all over my little rural town, not just the kind that say, I'm with these guys, but the kind that document how many souls lay to rest due to their actions right on their faces.
I really do love this state, lots of ranch country and tons of great people of all nationalities, but the illegal drugs in hands of white, hispanic and others flowing through it and AZ make them both places with tons of violence where you always keep in mind how far away your "pistola" is from your hand.
Although to be fair, when I lived in a town of about 100 people in northern lower michigan in 2001 there were 5 unsolved murders in that little town and one that was solved that was an A&E true crime special about two brothers who got in a scuffle with some detroit boys about a buck they shot, later that night bought them drinks, then no one saw them after a brief scuffle in the parking lot....
Fast forward, they found the two boys from my home town had killed these two gentleman and put them through a wood chipper!
Still felt safer there then I do here!

Justin: There was a murder in our town in 1929. Some guy sleeping with his wife. I just started locking the house at night. Had a drunk trying to get in our outside entry way, he was drunk. He was met with a double barrel 12 Gage. Man did he sober up fast. Where did live in Michigan?

Aw, you got that from "Fargo"! ...or did the Coen brothers get that idea from you folks, eh? [/quote] lol, dave, I know that to be a true thing from MI, and doubt these two brothers who lived in a shack in the woods had taken in the fargo flick! Folks always ask that though,....then there was the neighbor who backed over his wife "accidentally" in the driveway a few doors down killing her....eesh, tough place to live!

If you guys are so scared of being a victim why not get some training a carry a hand gun or put you a 12ga in the truck . My mom even carrys a 380 and has the training on how to use it . Why be sheep . Not sure anyone including myself is saying anything about being scared, however are there safer places I've lived, where vehicle theft in your driveway, car jacking, home invasion and other things are lower in possibility? Yes definitely. I know plenty of folks who "pack heat" and have had violent crime happen to them without the firearm ever playing into it unfortunately. Owning and even carrying a gun may make you feel personally safer but doesn't equate to a less crime ridden place to live. NM, AZ and NV probably have more folks carrying than many of the other states on the list, yet they rank high, one does not equal the other. If someone breaks into my home while I'm home and watching tv for example, my gun isn't next to me on the couch, if I'm in bed sleeping and don't hear the burglary I could be dead before I ever grab my pistol to protect myself or my wife. I fully support the right to carry and arm oneself, but Pesky let's not confuse carrying or owning with less crime, many folks make that mistake. I do believe if you took all the firearms away from legal folks you would see crime spike because no one would be able to defend and knowing that criminals would take advantage, so be clear thats not what I'm saying.
