Northof50 - When I got back from the rat demo with Wrangler there were no more sliders left. Neither I or POWER SNARER left with a colony trap. The one that was all rolled up was the start of ours.

I was quite happy with the results of the skinning considering how the animals held together for the kids.

What you could not pick up a kids slider at the dollar store? It was such a success that they will be made at the annual MTA in The Pas this year. The submarine traps were sponsored by MTA. I have your wire at home. That event was sure more quiet than the weasel box making.

Yes it was, and the kids will definitely benefit from the rat's they catch in those sub traps. Thinking I will make a few up between now and spring to drop in the few culverts around home

You lucky guys! Don't have any rats here anymore, maybe in spring I'll try some stuff out in the bigger lakes and creeks

December 12, 2012:

Took a few quick picture's of some pelts, thought i'd share.
As of now the pelt's I have finished and ready for auction are:
20 weasels, 5 marten, 2 squirrels and 30 or so muskrats. I don't normally put up squirrels, just interested to see what they sell for at NAFA.

The largest of the marten I have caught so far is above the XXL line, measuring to 27" from nose to base of tail

Checking set's tonight and can't wait to get out there.

December 12, 2012 *2*:

Went out and checked the sets, I really need to start carrying the shotgun, I see a few grouse every time out there.

Was a slow trip out today, up to about 3/4 of the way up the line all I had caught as a hunk of bait in a 120.
Finally got into the spruce and connected with a marten, and a little further down a weasel (#21)

Went to pull some non producing power snares last night that I was also worried about snaring a deer or elk in and had this.

Non-productive! Nice!

Rumors of my assimilation have been greatly exaggerated.

Went out and checked the line today, no marten but caught 7 weasels and a red squirrel.

Got on some wolf tracks on the way home coming off of a beaver pond.

Picture is hard to see, but I can guarantee they belong to a wolf. No coyote around here has paws that big, not even those caught from around the Meat Processing plant north of me.

TFT, also coyotes around here don't normally leave a claw mark between their tracks like that, pretty common for wolves though. Nice addition to that pile of ermine hides. Enjoying you guy's journals.

Exactly, there is clearly a pad and toes in coyote tracks but not the claw marks.

Thank you for reading and the feedback also!
