In case some have never worked on power roof vents the 1/8 screening formed under hood is installed by manufacturer. The 1/4 inch hardware cloth installed under fan blades is the issue.

Jim sure can, if you would like PM me your email and I will email copies to you.

Vinke we use Solar Seal so far their warranty is 28 or 30 years of actual feild use with out drying out, cracking or shrinkage. Terpolymer sealant adhesive that can stretch 300% percent without breaking seal. i know some that use Karnack I am not a big fan of their products.

To keep from leaking.

1. We use a Paint scraper (flat type, not raker style) to lift the tab ends of the shingles where you will put your screws.
2. Add a dab of roof mastic under the shingle.
3. Put a small dab of mastic on top.
4. Drive your screw through your top dab of mastic (with a fender washer if needed)
5. Put another dab of mastic over top the screw and washer.

If the shingles are old and brittle (risk of breaking them) skip 1 & 2

Now you have a leak proof seal!!!

Nice pics Charles!!!!!

Another good reason to screen everything from the outside.

Been screening them off out side for 30 years now, when you set the screw with a washer they will seal them self. can't do that on a flatter roled roof.

I have gone back on jobs 10 years later for what ever reason and checked the inside no problems.

Screening from outside prevents this type of damage. Also shows customer just how useless the screening installed by manufacturer is at stopping wildlife entry.

Starlings just got to love them.

Yeah, that's what I'm talkin' about - a haystack you could get lost in!

I've seen that over and over . I like the ones with tar paper over them that's real specil there . Putting some big fender washers on there and chalk it before you screw them down no way it's leaking
