Just set up the business recently so haven't got too much info up there yet - plenty of pics though.

Local Company pages on Facebook do work but your gonna put time and effort into it to make it successful. I have been working on a national FB presence since Aug 2009 which is a lot harder task but seeing growth and success in some markets today.

So, on the first step, "Create a page", how important is that classification?

The first one, "local business or place", requires a street address, which I would rather not put there at this time. The next 2 options, "Company, org., institution" & "Brand or Product", don't require a street address.

Terrier that decision to kill your address on your Facebook Page is enough to only get partial "find ability" from Google. Everyone puts a lot of weight in being sure you are who you say you are. You even get post card in the mail.

It was reported to me recently that in Kansas City KS a local company got caught using the physical address of all of his competitors.

If you don't use your address someone else frightfully may or will.

Since I'm operating in small towns where everyone knows my family and I, I'd never planned on a DBA anyways, so it was always going to be advertised with my real name. Guess I'm not hiding as much as I thought.
