Credit Cards are tricky, Great to take them, You will derive more business if you accept them... one word of caution about credit cards to small operators, MAKE SURE YOUR PAPERWORK IS IN ORDER!!! Chargebacks are a very common thing these days, and a customer has many months to dispute a charge. The way that works is the bank removes the money from your account and it is up to you to provide the correct paperwork to get it back....This happens to us about 4 times a year, often times they are on larger jobs where customers get in a bad way financially and reverse the charges to get some money in their account...I've seen this happen more and more as the economy got worse. So do your homework on the credit card thing, when you get a credit card processor, ask them how they handle chargebacks, situate your paperwork accordingly...

Non Target animals- Try to use baits and lures that are species specific, example, I've never caught a cat with persimmon bait.
other non-targets for me are chargeable...you still have gas, time and effort in the animal. that's why you call it a per animal charge, not per coon, per ANIMAL...

Just my thoughts, not saying anything I say is right or wrong, it just works for me...

I did away with my credit card machine 3 years ago, and have never been happier. I accepted credit cards from 2001 till 2009 but it just became such a pain in the bunns keeping up with it. I put the financial responsability on them, and I want to keep it that way. Lots of places ask if I take a C.C. and I just tell them no. I dont think Ive lost a job due to it yet. I also dont touch a job any more until I get 50% down, and if the owner is out of state, and wants fast service, they better over night it then, or have someone else on site cover it.
Thats just what works for me.

I have one credit card, and I watch it like a hawk. I use it only for purchases on line.

We both use and accept credit cards. Won't do an emergency job without verifying card # first.

This the reason I liked yearly or seasonal contracts so much. I knew what my income would be, my customers would know what their costs were and I could budget better. Milage costs can be controled better thru scheduling. Then these onetime jobs, if I took them, would be icing on the cake. Of course I am no longer in the business having retired 14 years ago. I trap only for a golf course now and a few freebees just to keep from getting bored and to prove to myself I can still do it.
