You are never too old to learn. ( In my case you should probably repeat it several times though ) I know you guys are very safety minded and believe it or not, it has rubbed off on me when it comes to our employees.

Personally, I think you're all nuts. If any of these fatal diseases, rabies, roundworm of the brain, etc. could be inhaled, I would have died 35 years ago. I have crawled through the worst animal garbage that you can imagine. ( Pigeon droppings was one of my favorites ) Granted, I was a kid, but none of the adults knew any better.

If anyone, anywhere, has a problem with wild animals, the newsrooms jump on it like it was a virgin Kardashian. Two kids died from raccoon roundworm in their brain nearly twenty years ago and now that the doctors know what to look for, I haven't heard of a case since.

Which reminds me, how come none of you mentioned the guy who got killed by a beaver? This was in Belarus and it made the news everywhere. ( No disease, the beaver hit an artery and the guy bled to death )

Don't forget people, you can ingest things with your eyeballs. All the mask in the world won't help you if stuff gets in your eyes, they have a gutter system that drains right into your throat.

Recently, in a situation that had a small latrine in a plywood loft I used a wallpaper remover to steam treat the surface. Worked pretty good. (I used a thermometer to see how long to hold it in one spot.) I was careful to sell it as "reducing risk", vs. "completely removing risk".

I agree with Paul, it can't be all that deadly. I learned the hard way once when shaking out a 'coon not to look up at the coon with your mouth open. Pah! I still get queasy every time I look at pokeberries.

Andy, you just haven't lived until you're flat on your back looking up into a chimney and Mrs. Raccoon decides to empty her entire intestines into your eyes, nose, and mouth. I was okay but we nearly had to resuscitate my daughter. She was laughing so hard that she found it difficult to breathe.

Paul....I think that the paint spray, roundworm and falls are starting to show. Just don't ask a family member that has a future interest in the business for a straight answer. wink

Well good info guys, but I turned the job down anyways. The guy was so worried about roundworm but he brought me around this nearly abandoned house while smoking cigarettes and pushing all his garbage aside to show me the "damage". He also proceeds to tell me that the place gets broken into constantly and there is a formerly homeless person living there. raccoon droppings were all over the place in the mess of stuff. Just a bad vibe all around. I politely told him that I wasn't comfortable doing the job and gave him some advice. Oh and the dog almost bit me in the face!....I need some sleep LOL!
