Think i may have found some bloodroot on the edge of the property, but just making sure is this bloodroot?
If so should i wait for the white flower to bloom to dig? Or is it good to go?

That is bloodroot. The white flower is already gone but you should wait until the seeds drop. And do not dig it all. When you dig it you may want to spread some around to give it more room to grow.Good find by the way.

There is a lot of blood root that is up here in Indiana that hasn't bloomed yet. I replant as much of the little ones that I can for future harvest. Are the roots heavier at a later date, say in June as apposed to April? If also like to make sure that what I do have is dried properly. Is there a buyer in here that can look at the 3 or 4lbs that I have already? That is dried 3 or 4lbs.

Looks about right, not the best photo...lol.just make sure you get all the foreign root out.I store all my dried root in cardboard boxes or barrels. But paper bags are good also...never store dried root in PLASTIC!!

JayDP, I sent you a pm.
IVluck, it is hard to tell if your roots are clean enough. You should cut the stem off of some of your roots a bit more. most of them look to be ok. They don't like pieces of stem clinging to the root. That goes for any roots you dig. I can use all the mayapple you want to dig and all the blood root you want to dig, if you want to mail it to me.
You don't have to scrub roots, but you need to take a garden hose with a good spray nozzle and wash as much dirt off as possible. If the roots have nooks and crannies in them, they should be free of any dirt or clumps of mud. Make sure you get all the root out of the root you are digging that is not the intended root that you dig.
These roots are used as medicine for the most part and buyers don't want dirt or other roots mixed into your merchandise. Digging and drying roots is just like handling nice fur.

I got alot of mayapple in my area don think i got lucky with this bloodroot find, but i may have a buyer here in my home town not sure what his prices look like, hes my fur buyer so im gonna see what he says...
I made sure to get all foreign roots out N i did cut the stem off the bloodroot just waited til they were dehydrated, the little roots that branch off the main root have mostly broken off during the dehydration step should i separate the little loose roots out?

If the fine root is mayapple, it goes with the roots.

the purple flower in your 1st pic with the bloodroot is cranesbill. the root has market value as well.

They should snap and you need to make sure all the roots are dry before putting them together in a sack or box.
