Wade, I've used a lot of scraps for snaring yotes for years. You mentioned that the yotes like to take a chunk and eat it elsewhere, and I notice that that is a canine attribute, as my little dog even does that with her treats. I have snared a lot of bones out of coyotes mouths, and also noticed a number of bones in snare circles after a catch. Sometimes you win, sometimes the coyote! Good luck!
Indeed I've found bones, parts of fish, and parts of the chickens littering about a 50 yard circle from where I've got the bait going. Something I've found interesting with the pictures is I've yet to see any canines fight over the food. When I was running cameras on my coon feeders that was the calling card for me to get more coons on the feeders. Three coons would be in a tussel and shortly I'd have 12-15 coons on a feeder. Maybe if it gets colder and food becomes more scarce they might get after it a bit more.
TBN I'm putting your bait to the test for sure. I popped in five sets this afternoon, and shortly after I got home our 40% chance of "showers," turned into a monsoon. Heavy downpour with some hail mixed between. I did set with waxed dirt so the traps should still fire. Time will tell. We're looking at 20-30mph sustained winds tonight. Not sure much of anything will be running.
