I use a crowbar to pry them out. It's usually not easy. W'eve got rocky soil here. I wonder if there's a better way out there...

Vice grips used to turn them loose.

Just a pair of larger vise grips. A couple twists and they usually come right out. However, if you bend them then wont. I make sure mine are straight before pounding them in.

crowbar. Use the deep bend end for leverage.

If you spin the stake with a wrench or vicegrips. Then pull on the trap the normally will come right up. If that doesn't work use the pry bar.

Woofman, Seems like most of my rebar stakes are either frozen in or are driven down thru rock. I got tired of trying to pry them out with a pry bar. I now use a handyman jack with a short length of chain and a hook and then I simply jack my stakes out of the ground. Hope this helps. Take Care, Tater

If the ground is frozen sometimes it helps to actually pound them in a little more to break the seal, then pull them out.

I use a leather glove and that bloody center part of my hand... seriously-I have an EASIER time when the ground is frozen...??? When not frozen I have to DIG... Frozen with some prying and rocking I seem to be able to get them moving (must be all that granite up here)

I made mine from ½" round rod. It is about 20" long and the two ends are about 1 ½" long the T-bar handle is about 6" long. All it really does is give you a very good handle to pull on the stakes. I heat the rod to make the bends and it is important to make the one bend on the main rod less than 90 degrees so it actually points up a little. It is also important to be sure the T handle and the bends are oriented the same as the picture. That way you can swing it into the ground at the stake, it goes right under and makes pulling them very easy. Sometimes I have to hit the stakes down a little to break the frost then hook this under and they pull easy.
