Wasn't long after this wreck(caused by inland beaver dam failure) that the railroad bulletined a permanent job for a full time Beaver control 4man which I successfully bid on,and held until retirement several years ago. 6oo mile long permanent trapline, best job I ever had.

No,Paul, I looked after about 75 miles of track every 2 weeks, with a one ton ford f 350 powerstroke diesel hi rail. I would start in the south after a 2 day aerial survey by chopper and work my way north then back again by fall. Track forces would take care of emergency situations then I would set it up within 24 hrs. The track forces sure liked it when we showed up,they hated breaking beaver dams, especially the same ones over and over again. The brass didn't like having the track mtc guys breaking dams all the time either as it took them away from track work. I had basically free reign and unlimited overtime as long as I was wiping out beaver and dropping the water. All the overtime increased my pension significantly and also allowed me to take an early pension.

You couldn't have been putting much in to get that low of a pension, lol. I make the same on pension as I did when working a 40 hr week.

If he's moving between ponds, you should be able to catch him. set up a couple castor mounds with drowners I set 3 castor sets, conibear in one culvert, snare set on the other culvert; this morning. He was pretty active last night so I feel pretty good about my chances.
