Put me down as a fanatical pit bull hater. The drug dealers favorite dog. Cost 4 grand for shots for my son who was bit for no reason other than being on a public road. Only consolation is the cops gunned them both down 3 days later.

Not a pit hater. I have owned one. The last three dogs I have seen had to be put down were pits though, and one more today that will probably be soon chasing other dogs and people growling.

As for the finger trick. I tried it when the wife bit me and it seemed to work blush whistle crazy

Well, there always seems to be one in every crowd. By the way, how old was your son?
Young child, I doubt. If so, where were you? Just asking.

My son was 30 something. So why do you think there is one in every crowd? It wouldn't have to do with the way people breed and train these moron dogs, would it? I don't have a problem with Dobermans or Rottweilers.

Well, Paul, I have four, currently, and between the nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and my own children, I have probably had, including puppies, in the neighborhood of 50 pit bulls, and 8 children. All from birth to adulthood. These dogs have been males and females of various temperament, just like any other breed. I'm sure you have spent time around dogs.
I will grant you that Pits can indeed be destructive. So can many other breeds.
I will say, though, that they are like clay. As in you can make them into anything you want. (far more malleable than most breeds!).
My father raises collies, and he told me as a child that a dog will be a direct reflection on it's owner.
Truer words were never spoken.
The only time my Bull Dogs get excited is when someone un-known shows up at the house and picks up one of the small children. They whine, and circle the stranger until the kids are placed back on the floor. Never a violent move, just worried.
30 years, and going.

The inherent problem with pit bulls is their loyalty to obey. They can be trained to do whatever one wants, including attacking other dogs or people. They can also be trained to be the best behaved dog you will ever see. The other problem with them is that their jaws, teeth, and methods are very efficient at causing serious damage.

That is indeed the truth. When push comes to shove, well, I want them in my corner. Problem with mine is, if anyone raises their voice, mine are in a corner! TRUTH!

I'm not a pit bull hater either. I've always had at least one if not 2. But I learned the vinegar trick while I was raising goats and had a pit that kept grabbing goats by the nose. She wasn't trying to hurt them, just kept holding them by the nose. Vinegar sprayed on the nose makes them release

How are they if given work ? Kept busy ? Lots of terriers seem to become unruly if not given a job.

Though they are referred to as "terriers", they do not have that type of personality/behavior.

She was a great dog. The only one there when I was alone. RIP Diggy Doo.
