I've started collecting in several directions including traps with teeth, #0 traps, double jaw traps, and the latest being Government marked traps. I have list the government marked traps that I have and ones I know are available that I will look for, but wanted to get input to list others available. I know there are some state #3N's, what state do you have? Post pictures of ones you have. Thanks!

#3N Victor - base "Property of U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service"
#3N Victor - base "Property of US", dog knot stake attached
#3N Victor - commerative in box - not really gov't but just goes with them
#4N Victor - jaws "US", base "Property of the United States"
#4 Newhouse - ATC - jaws "US" & base "Property of U.S."
need - various other Newhouse
need - #3 Gibbs U.S. Standard - jaws marked US, some baseplates stamped
need - #4 Gibbs U.S. Standard " "
need - #4X Gibbs U.S. Standard " "
need - #4 Hudson Bay - U.S. Government on pan
need - #4 Hudson Bay - offset - U.S. Government on pan

My "best" Govt trap is a 114 ATC with "Property of Province of Quebec"

Anyone have that one?

I have a Oneida Newhouse #114 from Canada also. It has GPQ stamped on the bottom of the cross. I was told that these traps were given to trappers to trap wolves in Quebec.

Great information! So there are some small Victors also. The USF&W tag is cool.

Seems like all of the state 3Ns are from western states. Anyone have any from say Oklahoma or Arkansas? Or other central or eastern states?

Well, I went and bought another trap last night after making this original post. It is a Livestock Protection Company (LPC) trap with APHIS/USDA on the pan. I have to admit I didn't know what APHIS stood for and had to look it up - Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service and is a division of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). It also has ADC on top of the pan and I'm guessing that is Animal Damage Control.

Another funny thing is I don't know what size it is but my guess is #3 1/2.

Does anyone know if these are common or uncommon? I got it for close to the price of a regular LPC so I think I did okay on the price.

I have a few U.S.Govt. marked traps. My favorite Tx. trap is stamped:
TPACA - Tx. Predatory Animal Control Assn. - they were issued in 1929.

Nice Govt. traps Don, Thanks for posting the pictures. I thought for sure you knew what an APHIS is. Those are the little bugs that suck the life out of plants buddy. LOL

I'm not sure if this counts as a government trap but a collector told me I should take that square piece off and the pan might be stamped US GOVERNMENT.

Dale, it will have the arched stamped Property of Us on the round pan under the square. Take a chisel and cut the rivet's off and you will be able to see it. LOL

Nothing under there but a rusty pan. I think next time I better seek professional advice.....
