Pulled my back on Friday and waited until today to go to the ER. Turns out I have some muscles stuck in spasm mode and they are swelling. Ouch! It sure slowed me down this weekend on the trapline and instead of setting a new lynx and wolf line I pulled traps and started shutting things down on the season. I might still set a couple wolf traps and for sure some rat traps at some point but I think I'm done with lynx and I have been done with martin for close to a week I think. I took a few pictures of my last real check for the year.
I think I get 1 lynx a year like this and always in the same area.
I spent most of this season exploring and finding new spots. This will be a favorite spot in the coming years I think. Nice big lynx.
Further down the same trail. One of the darker ones this year.
Couple traps later...
I look across the trail to the second box and I can see the springs aren't sticking out the sides.
Double!!
3 martin, a mink and 2 lynx out of this new country. I'll be back in there next Fall.
COMING UP ON 6000KM from that seat, I don't feel like I have even been buying much gas!
1st line...
2nd line, and 2 lines came up empty.
Hangem' then skinnem'
My camera doesn't work so well in the daylight these days so I had to take a creative selfie while checking my 5 rat traps that produced 4 rats. Shutting down winter trapping is the end of that great time of year but it's also the start of Spring. SPRING. SPRING I TELL YOU!! Cleaned my shotgun yesterday and my 150 grain core lokts are waiting patiently in the storage room... but I won't need those until I get some muskrat and wolf harvesting done. If only my back can heal up quickly.
