Anyone tried the new belisle selective foot snare. Seen a video WCS brought out showing how to set one. Newt or anyone else use it?

Check it out on utube. I think you will like it. Looks likee the trap is fired buy the animal digging. Still fires the loop. But trigger system and pan has changed. May just be a way to mess up a good foot snare. But belisle making it has me interested. I love the belisle footsnares. They are Cadillac foot snares.

The stainless ones are VERY expensive.
I haven't heard of problems with the regular ones.

Thanks for posting 2traps. I like the old style better and do wish I had some of the stainless one because they are stouter.

If you have sprung foot holds with no catch I can't believe your not going to have tons of sprung foot snares with out a catch. I can see the use when trapping big footed bears but coyotes and fox I'm not so sure. And In snow and wet ground conditions I can't see them being of much use.

I thought it was neat video. I would like to try the standard stainless belisle just to compare to the ones I have.

What anchors the snare loop? Seems like a step backwards IMHO. Doesn't that thin cable that's not swiveled damage the leg more than a properly modified paw hold trap?

Common sense catches alot of fur..

Unless there Is some type of BAD In the system your going to be catching and holding any deer that gets caught. Or maybe they will just slip out.
can't see the need.
Since 2 traps has some are you getting any pull outs?

Never held a deer but I bet they would. I have held coyotes and skunks in the belisle footsnares. Now the select has pull up trigger it appears so deer could step on it all it wants but want fire.

You use chain stake with swivel or disposable with swivel also shock spring. Very humane trapping device

Thin cable has rubber tube to prevent cutting. Larger 1/8 inch wire dosnt and does not cut the paw. Love the foot snare. Work just as good if not better then modern foothold. I would run bunch if you didn't have to use new snare after every catch. I have had possum and coon slip the noose but not coyote.

I saw DNR demonstrate the regular Belisle at the 2016 state convention. It seemed to me that if someone was having trouble with toe catches, foot snares might be especially good for those people. All in all, they seemed like a good set, but people here just aren't enthused about them. I brought it up several times this weekend at the state convention, and nobody was selling them and few seemed interested in trying them. I haven't tried them, but am anxious to order 1 or 2 to try. I've been pondering them for a year. My delay is largely due to trying to figure out a BAD that will hold most yotes but release most deer. I had 1 vendor tell me if I order foot snare(s) from them, they'd put on whatever BAD I want.
In my research this past year, the Belisle seems like a better all around setup than the Fremont. Wi requires inline shock springs on them. I don't think that thin rubber coated wire is legal here.

Most people would struggle to know how to set them, but I suppose once a person figures it out, it might go reasonably quick.

As for firm bedding, I kind of wonder how that is. I guess I haven't heard anyone say they are hard to firmly bed though.
