What have my fellow Mainers been up to? Anyone persisting through the bad fur prices and ludicrous regulations to trap this fall? I didn't get much chance to trap last fall/winter between college and logging, but I'm looking to get back into the swing of things this fall and hopefully work up a decent pile of fur, maybe even some marten.
Thanks, Alex

I'm using a 50/50 mix of wood and wire with my marten boxes, and my fisher box is wire. I've heard of quite a few people getting fisher in their marten boxes.

The ones they are getting in their marten boxes are females and small males.I'm hearing the fisher exclusion cages with the opening on the side is working much better then the one with the opening in the front. At least they are catching a few.If you don't mind let me know what you find out on the trapline. Thanks,Bruce

Set 6 Marten sets today and 3 mink/muskrat sets. My exclusion devices are made out of wire, but I have one that I made out of wood to try out this year. I set the wooden one on the ground the rest are wired to leaning or downed logs. Anyone set their wooden boxes on the ground and any advice on setting them on the ground? I have done the same as you with wiring the wire up and setting wood on the ground. I don't have a whole lot of knowledge of the devices since this is my first year using them heavily. All I know is that I have been told to mark them well before any threats of snow, because once they are buried they are hard to recover.

I have heard that there was a possibility of it happening this past summer, but people weren't able to work things out to get it done.
