I have done it often enough in the past while hunting and trapping. No need to practice with a bunch of rookies.

They do that in a little town just a few miles away from where I live, Cazenovia. Some of the guys and gals get dressed up pretty good and it is a big community event. Caz is a tiny little spot in the realm of things but they raise several thousands of dollars for cancer research or prevention. In the 17 years they have done this they have raised over a quarter million dollars for the cause. Just a bunch of good folks, mostly Deplorables, who still cling to their guns and religion.Caz is a typical little Wisconsin Town with 3 bars, a church and a grocery store which may or not be open. You can find it if'n you search for Lee Lake or Caz polar plunge.
Zim Sounds like a great time. Does a local establishment sponsor it or anything? It's a pretty good atmosphere at Milwaukee Bradford Beach one and there's various charities being helped.

I've always wanted to do that - but not enough to go looking for it. I don't know if I would have the nerve to do it or if I would chicken out.
I always figured it would be a good experience to have in case I fall in cold water unintentionally some time. Better to have experienced it under controlled circumstances so that I would be better prepared if it ever happens accidentally in a more dangerous situation.

Took the plunge in 2002 and 2003 in remembrance of a young man that tragically passed away driving home after competing in a HS football game. He and his Dad had that on their bucket list of things to do together and unfortunately will never have the chance. So his Dad along with many friends and family members jumped in Corey's remembrance. RIP Corey Schmidt 1983-2001.

Forever in debt to my Father who introduced me to trapping. May I be half the man he was.

Zim Zim, I've spent time in Caz with that deplorable Rasmussion! Neat area, but I'll pass on jumping in on purpose! Big John, the marine said Sully did that the other day...Keyed his truck....with his nipples! lol.
