Your last 7 words apply anywhere. Be sneakier, call softer, and a bit more patient. They will come.

I was wondering if hunting at night would increase my odds. Not by much. just about all i can get them to do at night is hang up and bark.

What??? There was a thread on here last summer by someone wanting to call some in in mixed woods and fields. Guys said they called them in across open fields all the time LOL! Sorry for your frustration. All I can offer you is what works for me. Full camouflage including face and hands because you move them the most. Call into the wind but keep an eye peeled down wind. Stay very still and make all of your movement in slowwww motion. Get into your calling spot upwind and as quietly as possible like you are stillhunting deer. A little Tinks predator mist (rabbit urine) sprayed on your decoy or the bush your call is in can't hurt either. Close trk doors slowly and then push them till they click. Sign language and no talking unless absolutely necessary. When you get to where you can hunt coyote successfully, other critters seem kinda stupid. I have only called in fox a couple of times during the day they come in at night much better. Coyote are easier during the day for me. Wish you well and keep trying it will happen if there are canines where you are calling.

We get them to commit to the call better at night. Coyotes are most active during the night. We haven't tried calling during the day in years. We just never had much luck.
Last Wednesday night (-12 degrees) we got our first double of the year. First sequence was 30 seconds on, 1 minute off..Bang! Rabbit distress. Second coyote came in during our 4th sequence with an intimidation howl. Work together.. Find your grove with your hunting partner. Always have one hunter keeping an eye on the back door. We've killed many circling down wind. Everyone here is feeding you excellent info. Good luck

I won’t disagree with what works for others ! For me in my area trying to call at night has never worked ! I know guys that live less than 25 mile away that have always had good luck at night even calling from the pickup truck. I can’t get them to come in at night even when doing everything as stealthy as possible, lol ! To each his own , right !
I too use a mouth call, my fox pro sits on the work bench collecting dust !

I’ve called in way more predators during the day with my mouth calls than the fox pro

Not an expert here and I don't claim to know allot about coyotes but here is what has worked for me on occasion
Daytime hunting here in the east seems to be all about getting in on top of these dogs and to do that I usually drive around the morning that I plan to hunt and locate dogs before the sun rises and I set up on the dogs that I have found, Slip in with confidence knowing there are dogs hearing your calls.. My theory is waste less time in areas that may or may not be holding dogs that morning and hit the sets that you know are holding dogs that day.. I don't kill a bunch of daytime dogs but I do manage a few each season As far as sounds to play- There is no 100% guarantee when it comes to bringing in a coyote, Try different sounds, throw some weird stuff at em, My style of calling is to use allot of waiting in between sounds let curiosity kill the coyote Mouth calls, E-calls figure out what you will be using and use it to your advantage, Me personally I am a big fan of using an E-call- I can get the sound out and away from me, It makes it easier to set up in risky wind situations and in general will draw thee attention away from yourself...
Nighttime hunting is where I put 98% of my calling efforts into If you want to pile up dogs here in the east then Night time is the right time, Its not super easy and it may take several years for someone to figure it out but putting up numbers is definitely not out of the question... Find land that holds coyotes and find good set locations that don't have allot of obstacles that would cause coyotes to hold up out of range such as high walls, creeks & ditches, houses ect. ect. if your running lights learn how to run them without having it glare off of your gear, weeds and other things in the area, keep the lights moving around until eyes have been spotted and then keep that light on him until he hits the dirt... The hardest thing is finding properties that have coyotes and a good set location, Over time you will accumulate more and more quality locations and hopefully your fur pile will continue to grow
If I was asked for my top 4 favorite sounds on my FoxPro it would have to be 1. Female Deep howls 2. Female Long howls 2 3. Pup distress 3 4. Raccoon fight
I do play other sounds but these all seem to be top producers for my calling style Good luck to you any anyone else interested in the sport.. keep at em and you will find success
