For you beaver guys. I have a lady land owner that wants me to trap the beaver on a creek behind her house. They have built a dam and flooding her land. But she wants me to trap them alive and release them some where else. My question is whats the best live cage trap out there to do the job. Thanks Digger

Are you allowed to relocate beaver there?

Do not do it unless you talk with your game warden. If he said no then tell her or just walk away.I would not do it if that is the terms. You are just make problems for some where else. One way or another for if you are able to move them.

If legal and you're willing to spring for a trap, I'd start the billing at $200 per beaver. A good live beaver trap will cost you almost that. And I'd let her know catching every last beaver in a live trap likely won't happen.

If this is a new structure, maybe its just a pair....Then I'd charge much more.

Can't recall what I paid for my Comstock live beaver trap...but it wasn't a havahart coon trap price...nor quality (or lack there of).

We also have to get land owner permission to put the beavers ..when caugh. And I ain't found no land owner that wants them...Good Luck with that mess. Unless there is some state owned land near by.

I would simply tell her that Bucky is gonna die if he is to leave the premises. If she does not agree....walk. If she eventually does agree....then charge plenty but that's just me. If legal you could go the live trap route but be prepared to spend a bunch. Good luck on that one.

Just tell her the truth.....That beavers are very territorial...and they will just fight and stress out in another area....she will feel bad about that...Then you can relocate them to the fur shed ....it's a win ..win !

If it’s not legal just trap them in a cage, show her, then just dispatch it.

Once I did a beaver nuisance job for the park district. I was at the parking lot discussing my plan with the supervisor of parks and a gentleman overheard us and expressed his concern for relocation of the beavers. I said "Sure, I'll relocate them-in the back of my truck". The answer seemed to satisfy him LOL.

Thanks everyone. I'm pretty sure it's not going to happen. Not only what I would have to charge her but the cost of the back hoe to come in and tear out the dam. And then finding one of my farmers willing to let me release them on their property would probably be a cold day in ----. Thanks Digger.
