Here is how I make baitsicles... I started with 8 deer livers donated to me by friends and a bunch of well tainted deer scraps. I chunked them all up and put them in buckets. I then added water until the buckets were 3 quarters full. I left them in there for a few hours and stirred them frequently. The wife complained about the smell in the basement so I knew it was working just fine. I added rope handles to make it easier to maneuver them after they were froze. I then put them outdoors were we have been having night time temps below zero and daytime highs in the single digits. I let them freeze solid. Finally, I put them in a bucket of hot water and the baitsicle easily pulled out of the container. Tomorrow I will place them in some strategic locations and let the coyotes find them. Even at 5 below zero this morning I could easily smell them frozen solid.

I have been experimenting with these, and for me they just do not work that well. I doo think they draw the yotes, but I have yet to have active eating of them. I keep other baits around to keep them chewing. For some reason, they do nor work as a chew toy here? Mine are 15 gallon bait cicles.. NY prohibits me from using exposed baits so the idea is to use these to draw coyotes in. Then I can use trail, dirt holes, flat and post sets.

They didn’t work for me either, I get a better response with a deer carcass tide down, with branches covering it. They just didn’t comment to it.
No matter how much money you make, always eat good🐠

Big chunks of bait lose their appeal to animals when the temps get low enough to freeze them hard.A whole beaver carcass will be ignored when it is frozen hard.Small birds and rodents cant work it so it also loses its long distance call factor. To activate it you have to feather it with your axe, this will get the birds and small animals working it again even in very low temps. Cats especially will ignore big baits that are not feathered well simply because their jaws are not made for gnawing like a wolf. Smash up those baitsicle thingys,I cant see any birds or animal being attracted to something like that for any length of time.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

What an incredible Idea put them out come back next day and see a bunch of critters with there tongues stuck to them!! Good job You would have to set them up by some old pump wells that have the cast iron handle. Smear a little lure down the handle! My mom always told me not to put my tounge on the pump handle. I looked at her and said, "mom, why on earth would I do that?"
